Doyles Room has been on the internet offering quality online poker not quite since the Mayflower, but pretty close in internet poker terms. Founded in 2006, the poker room is named for Doyle Brunson, poker legend, Hall of Fame member and ten-time WSOP Bracelet winner. The “Texas Dolly“ can be found with other big-name pros playing tournaments on the site. Doyles Room has a history of moving networks trying to find the best arrangement for players, and is currently found on the Cake Network, although it's been confirmed they will soon be leaving Cake for an as yet undisclosed new network.

As you might expect based on the name, the focus at Doyles Room is on having a traditional and personable poker room, with all the benefits of online play. As a testament to this, you can expect very good customer service if you should run into any problems or have any questions about the site. Their security is far from traditional, with state-of-the-art encryptions keeping your financial and personal details secure, and most importantly keeping your deposits and withdrawals efficient and safe.

While most poker networks are largely the same and have only small points of difference, the Cake Network is one of the few with some fairly individual policies. While Doyles Room may not be on the network for much longer, at least for the time being players there can take advantage of the differences. Basically it comes down to player anonymity, with Cake banning the use of Heads Up Displays which show recorded information on players, and also allowing users to change their screenname once per week if they so wish.

Doyles Room offers a welcome bonus which is more or less standard issue for online poker rooms today, coming in at $200. However if you use the DoylesRoom promotional code FTR1000, you'll be entitled to our exclusive bonus, which is a slightly nicer 100% up to $1000. This means that on your first deposit, however much you put on the site will be matched in a 100% bonus, up to $1000. For example if you put on $200, you would receive a $200 bonus and so have $400 to play with, and this offer is good up to a maximum bonus of $1000.

The DoylesRoom bonus can't be released into your account in one lump sum, or abusers would simply deposit and withdraw the bonus and their deposit instantly. Instead, you clear the bonus as you play in real money ring games and tournaments. You have 40 days to clear your bonus, which is released in easy to clear $10 increments every 100 qualified raked hands you play. That means that to clear the full bonus of $1000 you would need to be able to accumulate 22,000 FPPs within 40 days.

Doyles Room has been on a number of different networks, ranging from Tribeca to Prima to its current home of Cake. It looks like Doyles Room is set to leave Cake for a new home, but at this stage it is unconfirmed where this would be, or how far in the future the move will take place. The Cake network is one of the tenth largest in the world and still accepts US players, something which DoylesRoom has made clear is a top priority to them.

Traditionally Cake Poker has suffered from pretty low amounts of action at high stakes, so if you're interested in playing for the big bucks, you may be better off elsewhere. However, the reason for this - presumably that HUDs are forbidden - means that there are less regular grinders at the lower stakes which are well populated. This, of course, translates to quite fishy games and so if you can make the adjustment then playing on Cake Poker could be very profitable exercise.

The download sadly only runs on Windows, with no version available for Mac or Linux users, although if you're really a keen player then Doyles Room can be made to work on a mac via any of a number of different emulation programs.

The Doyles Room lobby looks and acts much the same as almost all online poker room lobbies these days, with a system of tabs to filter the table list such that you can always quickly find a seat at the game of your choice. Support and cashier are both accessible via the lobby, so if you have any problems help is at hand. The tables themselves look nice and are perfectly functional, we really couldn't find anything to complain about. The options that poker players are used to for posting blinds or topping up your stack are all there, and multi-tabling is of course possible and encouraged.
